Personal Statement
18 years experience in graphic design and marketing. Former creative director and co-owner of a design and advertising agency that carried out work for a number of SMEs and blue chip clients including ntl, Muddyfox Mountain Bikes, Cleveland College of Art and Design, Northumbrian Water, Flymo, McCulloch, Northumberland College and Middlesbrough College. I have experience in managing a variety of other businesses (convenience store retailing, catering and an online takeaway food ordering portal) so have good all round knowledge with regards to business planning, marketing, design, brand and social media strategy. Qualifications include a 1st class Honours Degree in Graphic Design (1998), and a couple of design related awards. In the last few years I have also been doing freelance design work for several clients (notably Correxiko®).

1998: BA (Honours) Degree in Graphic Design: Passed with First Class Honours. Also won the Evening Gazette Design Award and elected Licenciate of the Society of Typographic Designers. Design work was chosen to promote the end of year shows for both the Graphic Design and Industrial Design courses.

2007-2013: Director, Bytheway Stores Ltd, Thirsk. An independent convenience store (including off-licence and newsagents). Role: branding, marketing & design and general management.
1999-2006: Creative Director, Ellahi & Pinkney Ltd, Middlesbrough. A strategic communications agency, specialising in direct mail, advertising and design for print. The company saw turnover increase from £211,000 in 2000 to £8.2million in 2004.
